Teaching Opportunities
Brookside holds to a "Safe Spaces" policy. Adults
and high school youth are encouraged to consider this area of
volunteer service. Teaching is a great way to learn and a great
way to get to know children and families in the church.
With Rotational Workshops, teachers teach in areas where they feel most comfortable. Our workshops are: art, cooking, games, music, science, storytelling and video. If you enjoy one or more of these areas, please consider teaching a unit. A unit lasts 4 to 6 weeks with the teachers only teaching 4 of the weeks (there are only 4 age groups and you teach each group once). There is detailed curriculum, and teacher training for each unit to help the teachers feel comfortable and confident teaching.
Rotational Workshops also needs shepherds. Being a shepherd is a year long commitment. Each age level has 2 shepherds who alternate units. Shepherds provide a constant presence and relationship with their age group. They bring the children to their assigned workshop, help the teachers interact with the children, and see them safely to their parents after the workshop is ended.
If you are interested in either being a teacher or a shepherd please contact
us. |
