The Thrift Shop and Women's Union presented a $500.00 check to the Liberty Veteran's House in Manchester at their December 2009 Meeting. In the photo are (L to R), Melody Whitcher, Sally Sederquist, Penny Stillman and Karen McCarthy, Veterans Advocate and Project Coordinator. The Liberty House is a temporary home to many homeless veterans. All women of the church are cordially invited to join the Women's Union, which meets the third Thursday of the month from September through May. Our meetings start with a social time in Fellowship Hall, followed by dinner, a brief business meeting, and a program of interest; we are usually through by 8:00 p.m. The mission of the Women's Union is to unite the women of the church in effective work for the church, the community and the world. Through monies from the Thrift Shop, the Christmas Fair and other funds, we are able to support various missions and charitable organizations, and also help with some of the maintenance costs of the church and Manning House. For more information, please contact the church office at 669-2807.
The Christmas Fair in 2011 has already been scheduled. It will be on Saturday, November 5th, 2011, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. There is no admission charge or fee for parking. Tables are available for crafters to rent; questions or reservations may be made through Sally Sederquist at 668-6917. Coffee and donuts are available throughout the day and lunch consisting of homemade soup, sandwiches, dessert and soda is served from 11:30 to 1:30. Find a complete listing of all the table chairs here. Donations of the following items would be greatly appreciated: White Elephant and Raffle Items, Toys, Jewelry, and New Gifts. Items may be placed on the bench outside Pastor Dawn’s office. Come experience the Christian spirit that has kept this tradition alive and well for over 50 years from the Franklin Street Church to the present. The Christmas Fair is sponsored by the Women's Union as a fundraising event.
